SOLVED: it was the SD card. Returned it and popped a new one in and I'm successfully taking pics now! 🙃
FYI I'm new to having a camera that isn't in my cell phone.
So, I was trying to be a more thoughtful consumer and decided to purchase a used camera on ebay. It is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II, it has been reset as far as I can figure out in the menu. The SD card I bought at best buy was a Sandisk Extreme Plus SDXC 128GB. I immediately placed the card in the camera, it said "CARD ERROR". I went through the menu and pressed the button to format the sd card but it doesn't load the bar on the screen like I've seen others do. It just goes back to the previous screen and continues to say CARD ERROR when I try taking a picture. I blew in the slot that holds the sd card and looked in with a flashlight I don't see dust or anything interfering physically.
I'm in a gorgeous area and all I want to do is go out and hike up a mountain to take some subpar photographs!

I returned the previous one and bought an extreme pro instead and it WORKS, I'm so excited to finally have it! 😁😁😁
OK, so I tried the formating my SD card before posting and it didn't show up where Google says its supposed to and from all these online "how to format your sd card" its probably not normal to not show up where everyone else's does. I have plugged in unplugged tried locking it to see if maybe for some reason the direction was printed wrong on it and nothings worked. I just cannot see it in my drivers section or device management etc.
Maybe it is the SD card? I don't have another device to test it in nor do I have another SD card to try in the camera. 😒 maybe I should try to return and or exchange this sd card first!
