Photos not really sharp?

Post Body

I've been talking sports photos for around 7-8 months and I've shot baseball, soccer, football and basketball and I'm starting to notice my photos don't really look sharp. Something just kinda looks off about them

I use a Canon R7 with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 mkii

Whenever the players get closer I get some amazing shots but whenever they are around 30-40ft away I notice a huge loss in quality which seems weird. I should be getting sharp photos at 200mm plus the 32mp of the R7

Is there something I might be doing wrong? Lightning, white balance, auto focus setting?

I mean I'm using the obvious settings for sports like continuous AF and spot af

Any ideas of what could be wrong?
