Hey all, long time reader, first time poster.
Just kidding, this is my first time here, but I'm hoping you can help! This is going to be a bit long winded, but stay with me. I'll be as brief as I can.
I bought a camera because I loved the idea of capturing memories. I practiced a little bit with it (DSLR) but inevitably gave up. I realized as much as I loved capturing all of life's social outings, the pictures were missing...well, me.
I figured out that a $20 selfie stick worked a lot better than the $400 Nikon for my needs. Unfortunately, the selfie stick means my phone photography, and let's be honest, phones have pretty amazing camera technology at this point... Alas, like with a lot of you, once it's on my phone, that is where it dies.
I guess I'm wondering if there is a happy medium between DSLR and Cell phone. I know Point&shoots exist, but are they still terrible quality? I haven't held one since 2003. Ha.
Second part of my question: I am going to a NYE party and wanted to help them setup by adding some sort of photobooth kind of deal.
My first thought was a "Shenanicam" - You know, an old point and shoot film camera from CVS. That would be fun, but it's oddly more expensive than you might think AND it's not really a photobooth, but rather just a fun thing being passed around.
Option two was a Polaroid camera. I just think they're pretty cool. Problem is, at the price of film, I wouldn't want people taking advantage of the "free" pictures when they can't delete and redo. A sign limiting photos also feels like it's limited fun,
Option three was set up some sort of iPad application and have it hooked up to some sort of printed. I was at a Halloween party that had this one time. Unfortunately, I have no idea what they used other than there was an iPad and I woke up the next day with pictures in my pocket. Haha.
Open to any ideas on both fronts and appreciate your input!
Thank you!
