What cameras should I consider when upgrading from my Canon 500d (Rebel T1i)?

Post Body

Hi! I’ve been using my Canon 500d since about 2016, but I got it handed down from my dad so it’s even older than that. I’ve been thinking of getting a new one for a while. Generally it’s getting older, and the photos aren’t as sharp as I want them to be. Also I bought a microSD a while ago with a good capacity only to find out it doesn’t work with my camera (even with the adapter) so I’m a little salty about that.

Since I mainly do hobby photography, I don’t need anything crazy, and am planning on buying secondhand anyway. I’d just like something more recent, and it doesn’t have to be Canon either. Budget wise, I’m keeping it under $1k. What cameras should I be looking at that would suit this? Should I be looking at lenses too? (I have 3 Canon lenses that came with the camera when my dad gave it to me) Thank you in advance!
