"JPEG mode" should always be avoided on a typical DSLR/Mirrorless camera?

Post Body
One misconception I had was about using "JPEG mode" for purposes of convenience. I guess "JPEG mode" is big trap, because these camera companies don't specialize in post-processing algorithms. The goal of camera company is to produce best quality raw images, and outsource the task of post-processing to the home computer? If so, what software on home computer can create post-processed images on par or better than the algorithms of flagship phones?
