Canon Birding lens?

Post Body
I've recently gotten in birdwatching and wanting to take photos of birds but my only long focal length lens is a 85-250 so I'm looking to upgrade.
I'm using a Canon 250d, and I'm looking at the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary lens, and wondering about the teleconverter for the future.
Are those good options and will the teleconverter even work on my camera any advice would be appreciated.
