Can a regular USBC cable work for tethering?

Post Body

Hey all! I'm a professional photographer, but don't have much experience outside of limited studio work with tethering. Normally I just use the cable that came with my camera, but I have a client asking me to tether shoot for a sporting event, and that cable is absolutely not long enough for that.

While this is a first, if it goes well, the client will want me to tether shoot moving forward

I've seen TetherTools, Area51, IQWire, etc. I'm sure they're great cables, but PHEW that price!!! Is it safe to use a standard USBC-USBC cable as long as it's rated for data transfer? Of course this would be temporary. If it works well, then I'll invest, but I don't want to drop $60-200 on a cable just for the client to say "Eh nevermind, go back to how you used to do it" I know a cheaper cable won't be as reliable or sturdy, but I'm just having a hard time justifying this cost when it's honestly 50/50 on if it becomes a regular thing.

Thanks for your time!
