I’m currently a sophomore in college who has a lot of photography experience, though most of it hasn’t been professional (I have a good portfolio, just not many gigs / selling stuff, a lot of my photos have been volunteer for the school newspaper (I go to a big school so they get seen), used for prints for my family as gifts, etc. Anyways, I was recently offered a job to shoot headshots for 3 hours for $100. I thought this was fair enough until I actually had the gig on Sunday. They sent me 3 people every 15 minutes for the 3 hours (no breaks and the location I was shooting was at a famous outdoor spot on campus), and it really just felt like a lot. By the end of it, I had over 1000 photos, and had to edit ~400 of them (which took a whiiiiile). The part that really frustrated me was I asked a client how much they were being charged and they said $30 (while I was payed only about $2.78 per client I shot). They offered me the job again on Sunday, and not sure if I should take it. I feel like I’m being exploited, but idk if I have a better option since I don’t know how to get clients on my own (this company is well known for providing services on campus - I on the other hand am not). If I ask for a raise, I’m sure they’ll find another student on campus to take the photos for them … Any thoughts on the situation would be appreciated
