Would you tell me your favorite hassle free flash set-up for outdoor portraiture?

Post Body
I’ve recently done some headshots for a few friends and I’m actually getting several new clients because of it. I used good old fashioned natural light for their shots and prefer it over a flash. However, good lighting isn’t always guaranteed and I would love to be able to have a little more control in certain situations.
I’d like to start with one speed light and an umbrella, and if it’s something I like would eventually double it. Any suggestions for a decent portable rig? Thanks!
