Pictures coming out dark?

Iām using a Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro, I take pictures of trains and every time, the sky comes out super nice, bright, and clear, but the train itself is dark, but this only happens with trains close up (first pic), from further away, they look much better (second pic), is it just the display screen doing that? Or is there a setting to change on the camera itself?
