So I'm looking at taking Fuji for a spin and trying out the xt30ii as it seems to be a good combo of what I'm looking for in the next camera. I currently shoot a Sony A7R5 and it's great, but at the same time it's very clinical. I have a buddy who's been bugging me forever to try Fuji and I finally have some freed up funds to do so. What attracts me to the xt30ii is the classic styling, film sims (and custom recipes too), and the smaller design of it all which would make taking it around a lot more fun. He's described it as just more fun and enjoyable to shoot versus Sony cameras which have a very stern and professional feel to them.
There's a couple hesitations I have but I'm not sure how big of a deal they really are.
- Lack of IBIS: The sony has some amazing stabilization and I love being able to take longer shots. However I'm not particularly looking for low light performance, so I'm not sure at what point it becomes missed as a feature during more daytime usage. I'm aiming to use it as a travel/landscape/street camera.
- Lack of weather sealing: I live in a very dusty and windy area, so all the weather sealing on the Sony was a huge perk. If I'm not constantly changing lenses (or very conscious of when I do it) does everything tend to stay fairly clean?
- How is the auto focus on these cameras? Again the sony is crazy with this, but I don't plan on doing a ton where I need eye/head, vehicle, or other object auto focus. I kinda want to set this up as a run and gun type camera.
- Would you recommend trying the xt30ii before spending more on a higher end body, or should I get something like the xt4 just to start with? The biggest thing I want in the Fuji I get is the film sim/custom recipe capability (seems like any of them these days) while the lack of IBIS is the larger of my two concerns.
