Recently picked me up a lovely looking Sigma 500mm 7.2 APO EF Mount.
Sadly like most rubber coatings that are old the sealing/glue in the lens hood has gone sitcky...
I've been able to move the hood and clean the sticky gunk/glue, pulled out a strip of material that looked to be a dampening/friction ring.
Though now the hood is *floppy* so easy to slide up and down, not so much an issue but if I take the lens out and about it'll bug me.
Does anyone know of a way I can either remove the hood and replace the sealant material or do I just not bother?
I may go about trying to put a protection cover/skin over the rest of the lens but the hood sliding too easily is the thing that is gonna bug me!
NOTE: Not a picture of my physical lens but the exact model.
