Received this old plate camera as an heirloom, what do I need to start using it?

Would love to be able to take some photos with this thing. Apparently was first used as a forensics camera in the metropolitan Police.
Assuming dry plates are the way forward? I should be able to DIY a dark room
Can you suggest the easiest route forward, assuming I have no plate developing/manufacturing equipment to begin with
