I debated whether to post photos that “may contain nudity.” So I opted to post a semi IG friendly (which is hit or miss at best) pic as reference … anyway.
My style is typically sharp and detailed. But I shoot female portraits… which conventionally are notoriously not sharp and detailed. I’m debating whether to upend my style of 15 years of sharp and detailed and move toward soft and moody… but it’s just not in my gut. As I write this, my internal debate of “chase the popular” versus “just do what you like, bruh” is screaming loudly. I know I’m going to get varied opinions but I do value the opinions of those committed to the same passion of photography, from a photographers perspective. Anyone can look at a naked chick and wax philosophically but photographers can relate to the process by which an image is conceived and created.
So with that, do you endeavor to capture women in portraiture with certain clarity or with uncertain and therefore ambiguous curiosity?
