I require a camera oh wise individuals

I used to use a old 2005 Sony camera my dad gave me as a throw away almost 10 years ago. I’ll be honest, it’s not very good compared to the quality that modern day cameras have now.
So in short, what’s an affordable camera that I can purchase for daily use? Mainly portraits and I like to take photos of moving objects such as trains!
