Does anyone have a more positive relationship with their daughter than they had with their mom?
Post Body

I love my mom. But she is a very complicated person and our relationship has been complicated for as long as I remember. I'm pregnant with a baby girl and I'm worried about having the same complex relationship with her. I dream of having a simple, honest relationship....but I never experienced that before. My mom and I have a relationship based on guilt, expectations and secrets. She had a similar dynamic with her mom. Is it possible to break the cycle?

It sounds like Little_eva_20 is really grappling with how to create a better relationship with her daughter than she had with her own mom. She's hoping for something simple and honest, free from the complications of guilt and expectations.
