I had originally posted this in a Parenting forum but it was removed since I am not a parent, so I am reposting here.
Last night, my boyfriend and I stopped at his friend’s house. The friend and his wife have 2 kids, 10 & 6.
His friend made the comment that they were going to go to a bar and were gonna leave the kids home. I honest to God thought he was joking. After learning that he was actually serious, I said, “oh, did you get a sitter?” Both him and my boyfriend looked at me like I was a complete whack job for asking such a question.
After seeing my clear concern, he said “no, but my son is so protective of his sister. Like he freaks out if he can’t find her even for one minute. We’ll only be gone for like 30 minutes and we have cameras outside.”
It’s a super small town and the bar is a couple blocks away, but still. It didn’t sit well with me.
Is this something other parents would do?
