Question to older wives who thought to their disabled/unhealthy husbands “I told ya so.”
Post Body

Not actually “I told ya so,” that would be cruel - but to wives that were concerned about their husband’s health throughout the course of your marriage, then your worst nightmare came true … How do you cope? Did anything ever change?

I (31F) am not the fittest nor healthiest person, but I can run a couple miles and am not overweight and generally eat vegan and take my vitamins. My (31M) husband has been obese his entire life, has terrible knees, sleep-apnea, and is on the verge of diabetes.

I am in it through thick and thin, and I love him dearly. We have so much fun and sex is great, we have a beautiful marriage. Been together for 10 years. However, I worry for the fact that he’s a candidate for early heart disease and could very well leave me a widow relatively early.

I don’t know how to cope with this and it keeps me awake sometimes, and it also makes me bring up the topic of his weight and health to the point of nagging.

I picture me having to be his caretaker when I’m still up and at ‘em, and I’m a little annoyed he doesn’t take his health more seriously.

Wives (or husbands if the shoe fits), what happened to your marriage in the same scenario? Which advice do you have? Is my concern legit, or am I just ruining our younger days about fretting for the future?
