Desktop or Laptop

Hey to everyone.I am confused which one to pick up for my purpose. So i will make it clear.Getting into pentesting-networking.Doing HTB,THM etc. Will start soon eJPT or PNTP cert and will head towards OSCP.When i am at home obviously i can work on my desktop(if i make one) have 2 monitors etc and perfomance will be obviously better.Heard some issues about OSCP test day because of the hours, some laptops get high temps freeze etc..ok s@@t happens i guess anyway. On the other hand in my current job i move a lot and sometimes dont have access to fast internet or internet at all so i want to have a decent Laptop for some offline vuln machines to test etc or code in python. At the moment i have a macbook air M1 and i will sell it soon.So i am thinking either get a decent desktop with big ram good cpu(aprox 800-1000 can make a powerfull one) and get a refurbished/used laptop old macbook pro(can dual boot etc Intel cpu) or either a Thinkpad. On the other side i can get a newer used Macbook Pro (Intel cpu) with M1 air i faced a lot of issues so i will pass and make with the laptop a good setup with 2 monitors while i am at home and have the flexibility to get it with me to coffee shops,on some trip or whatever.P.S i dont like Windows at all(Windows user for years).I am down to linux versions..Waiting for some ideas thanks.
