I've just come across several modern/current Windows 11 devices infected with WannaCry at a retail store.
I thought WannaCry was so 2017...
Is this a copy-cat / newer vulnerability from the WannaCry family?

Several demo units in the store have been infected - heard from a store associate that a factory reset didn't clear the PC from references of the malware (detected by Windows Defender).
Could it simply just be the original WannaCry, installed by a customer after disabling Windows' defenses?
