Landlord took 6 weeks to replace fridge-- How to handle?
Post Body

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice on how to respond to my landlord about a fridge replacement. I'll try to keep it short but for context:

  • Emailed mgmt company about broken fridge on 6/27

  • Was ignored. Followed up and was told that the super could come next Monday to try and repair it

  • Super cleans coils, does nothing. Call back after a few hours and was told he will come later in the week to take measurements-- he doesnt show up when he was supposed to

  • Follow up and schedule time to get measurements taken-- he doesnt show after I stayed home from work

  • radio silence the next week

  • he finally shows up and takes measurements last week

  • fridge is coming this friday-- 6 business weeks after notice

  • having a fridge is in the lease and the building was advertised as having a live-in super

So I sent a polite email about a rent reduction, was ignored, and when i followed up, was told "we cannot grant a rent reduction for prompt regular appliance repairs"

How do I respond? Do I have any leverage now that the new one is coming? I just wanted like $200 for the stress and eating out-- ive lost noticeable weight from poor eating. I havent paid August rent and dont plan on living here after this lease.

Thank you!
