How safe is 167th street bronx at night

Hi,

I'm a young(24) tall African American male and I wanted to here peoples insight of east 167th(specifically sherman avenue) durng the dy and night.

I have the opportunity to get a apartment there for low rent(i have other option) and I really like that place but after talking to a few people they were concerned on how id manage at night. Is it really that bad at night in this area? I currently live in the flatbush area of brooklyn and Ive been in the bronx before(went to lehman college, walked late at night around fordham)
