I am graduating in December 2022 and moving to NYC in January for a new job in Midtown. My friend and I will be looking for a 2br and with a total max budget of 4k. I'm a pretty big guy (6ft 4) so I definitely like to have more space and that's why I've been thinking about Williamsburg. Also, when the weather is good, I like to go to the park and read or just relax. I visited Central Park and Washington Square Park and they seem cool but also it doesn't seem calm enough to dive into a book due to the number of tourists.
That said I am single, I love trying new IPAs, and I like going to bars/clubs on the weekend but I don't necessarily think I want to live where everyone is partying. I'm totally fine commuting from Williamsburg to LES for the nightlife but I feel like I might be missing out especially since I'm a new grad and I don't have a network in the city.
Everyone is saying, if you are a new grad and/or new to New York, you should start in EV or LES but I feel like cuz of my size and my temperament I would like Williamsburg more. Here are some other things I currently like doing or plan to get into when I finally move:
- Cannabis ( Since I smoke, a balcony or fire escape is a must)
- Chess
- Biking
- Cinematography
- Comedy (going to comedy clubs)
Please help me decide, I can't visit both areas extensively so I'm trying to pick 1 area and focus my apartment search there.
