What should I avoid to stay safe?

Iām (21F) moving to nyc (manhattan) in the fall for school and Iām a bit worried considering iām both a female and extremely small (think <100lbs). In reality, how safe is new york? Is there anything I should know or areas I should definitely avoid? Thanks for any advice :)
