Have you ever increased your rent payment after a raise and regretted it?
Post Body

I received a large raise at work which leads to me making about a grand more a month, with it, I want to move on my own in the city when my lease is up, and stay within a walk to the office which I currently really enjoy having. To do so I'll most likely need to go up to my 40x and spend 700 bucks more a month.

I have zero student loan repayments and no other large monthly expenses, and I plan on staying in the next place for a few years and have my next raises help make the rent more affordable. But I don't have many friends that make my level of income, so I don't know what's "normal". living in the city, what have you guys decided on in terms of increasing your income/rent ratio, have you been happier splurging on a place?

Edit: sorry for grammar/spelling, wrote this while discussing it with family at dinner 😅
