NYC has a lot of monikers attached to it; so much so that the enduring mythology of the city in the wider public imagination is as mysterious and expansive as the city itself. This fascinates me as an artist.

I was wondering if anyone had any stories of people they have met while living in or visiting NYC. I don't mean celebrity encounters, but people you came across in your daily life. I'm interested in people who made an immediate impact or impression on you, whether it was their look or fashion, their competence, their oddness, what they were saying or doing.

Who were they to you, what were they doing and (if applicable) when did you lose your illusions about them?
