Hi,
I rented a room from a guy who lived at the apartment for 20 years.
He made it seem like the rental was for two months - until December.
And he also told me the owner / super was aware of my residing here, and was okay with it
Well, it turns out, he informs me the other day, literally less than a week ago, that the rental actually ends on November 1st, which has me terrified cause all my own plans hinged on that December date. I had nowhere lined up because I didn’t think I had to for another month.
I have a rental receipt from this guy dated 9/30, as well as a screenshot of his driver license (he encouraged me to take it as proof he was legit), as well as a USPS change of address form dated the same day.
If the owner comes on the 1st, would I be able to stay and just end up having to fight it out in court as in a normal eviction?
Mind you, I don’t want to stay here forever. Just until I can get another place. Even if that’s only like a week from the first. I’m not intending to park my ass here indefinitely
