Hello, just moved here earlier in the week want to know if this is normal. Was on i278 yesterday about 8-830am when police were stopping cars on the highway and having them pull over. There were maybe 20 or so officers having cars pull over and looked like normal ID/registration. Don't know the area very well but it was north-west not too far from where the Brooklyn Cruise terminal is.
I personally didn't drive through the checkpoint, my exit was just before it but I saw a van and a motorcycle both get directed to the side of the road and the van had his registration ready to go because they handed it to the officer like immediately.
Is this type of shit normal here? I've seen DUI checkpoints outside of bars late at night and Import/Export checkpoints at state borders, but never just a random 'show me your papers' type of checkpoint.
Am I misunderstanding what it was or was it seriously just a random checkpoint?
