i live in a low floor east facing valley coop in queens, so i can only get UHF tv stations using a double bowtie antenna and active 16db coax amp at my window. i have not been able to watch hi-VHF channels like 9 11 13 for years (too many buildings well above my horizon line are in the way west of me).
my 80yo 7fl coop won't allow roof aerials anymore (i had a 6' one - they made me take down). for years since everyone was kicked off the roof my ota tv reception would frame skip or video freeze (audio continues to play) so i did not depend on it. instead i would watch late night talk show monologue the next day on youtube.
anyway, last night i knew SNL premiered, so i figured i'd fire up the old OTA devices and see what i could see. to my amazement the entire 90min program came thru at 720p30fps flawlessly for me.
did something change this year? i know ATSC 3.0 is here, but it should have done little to improve my 15yo ATSC 2.0 equipment or small window mount aerial ability to receive ota tv adequately.
