Move to NYC from west coast to start new job in 12 days? Where to find roommates?
Post Body

Not an ideal situation, but considering a move from west coast to work a new job in Midtown West. Don't want to sign a lease as its a contract role.

I lived in NYC back like 15 years ago but this time I'll have my car so I'm thinking I should probably live in Jersey or perhaps Queens/Brooklyn so I can have street parking (possibly?) and subway/NJTransit in.

All that said, where's the best spot to find a roommate situation this quick? Craigslist looks really really really unreliable (bunch of likely fake posts).

Also, what neighborhoods would you target? I'd like to go up to $1400 max for rent if possible, but open to hearing that this is unreasonable.
