I would like to move to NY in the next few months. My ideal neighborhood would be one in Brooklyn or lower Manhattan but those are all expensive. I’m finding a lot of cheap places in Harlem and in the Bronx. Im not familiar with these neighborhoods. I’ve been to NYC when I was a kid but my family only went to tourist spots in Manhattan. My biggest concern is safety. I’m a 28 year old and women, who would like to go as I please anytime of day or night. I currently live in Downtown Toronto and have no problem walking around late at night. I know which places are good and which places to stay away from. My monthly rental budget is $900. I plan on renting a room in a shared apartment. What is the best way to find a room for rent? I looked up on the Facebook market place and most of the posts look fake, with generic descriptions and pictures that were found on Google. Is there a better way to find a room to rent?
