Not currently visiting but curious about something. When I visited New Orleans a few years ago I was staying on Kerlerec St. When I got a cab from the airport the driver first brought me to the address of the same number on Carondelet St. I had to show him the address on my phone for him to recognize the name. I assume I must have been mangling the pronunciation. I am from the Boston area so I guess it could have been how I talk, but I don't have a very strong accent, and I also noticed a lot of people in New Orleans have a non-rhotic dialect that sounds pretty northeastern so I'd imagine most people there are used to hearing that anyways.
