I’m thinking about finally starting HRT and have questions about weight loss/gain.
I’ve struggled with my weight/self-image all my life. I initially wanted to lose weight before starting HRT, and actually did it. I’m 6’2 and got myself down to 160 at one point, but slowly gained some back without having started and am now up to 180, a little higher than I’d like to be but still definitely in the healthy range for my height.
My one concern is that a have a little bit of a belly, but honestly even at my lowest it didn’t completely go away.
Anyways I’ve heard a lot about how not only do lots of people gain weight on hrt, but it’s actually good to be at a caloric surplus to give the hrt some fat to work with and distribute. If that’s the case, and I don’t want to put on too much weight, would I be better to start HRT at my current weight, or do I need to try and lose some now and not start gaining weight until after I’ve started?
