So when I did a report in high school on the crisis in the Middle East (this was before the Gaza War) I remember reading that it would be a bit hard to divide religious sites up between 2 defined states. For example Jerusalem has several sites that are sacred to both Jews and Muslims, so the party that has control of Jerusalem can easily exclude pilgrims of a different religion.
I’m not asking how would we split it up, but rather why doesn’t the Christian community care much about having representation/access to these sites? When the US (multilaterally) carved out Israel for the Jewish people 75 years ago, did they care about the Christian community and heritage in the region?
EDIT: i wanna say that i am irreligious and American. I’m not advocating for Christian rights, just curious!
