Men in 30s who recovered financially; any encouraging words?
Post Body

I am a single 33m who has been a finance analyst for 10 years. I’ll keep it brief, but I am a former alcoholic (2.5 years sober). Was up to 26k in credit card debt. Paid it down to 15k then lost my job. I have 70k in a 401k. I am trying to get reemployed professionally and have taken a part time job as a security guard and looking for another part time job.

Anyway, I’m struggling with confidence and worried about my future / getting evicted in a couple months. I don’t have cash from paying down my debts and I am running up my card again.

Anyone have success stories of times when it looked bleak and they turned their life around? I take responsibility for my choices and got help and turned my life around but it’s been so rocky since. Could use encouragement fellas. Also, should I open up another line of credit to not get kicked out of my apartment and or default on my credit cards if need be? I’m not sure what the least or evils will be going forward, bankruptcy?… homeless shelter?

edit I have maintained a very very strict weekly budget for the last year and a half as well. I am a new man, just need a break or encouragement.

Thanks
