Why ghost?

Picture this: you've been talking a year, it's LDR, finally get to meet and have a great weekend together. After, say things like "we'll figure out how to go on vacation for sure", "we're good. I'll for sure let you know if there's a problem."
And then after two months still of consistency, saying that we'll have time that week, just decide to ghost. No heads up, no explanation. Just radio silence.
