How did you discover your taste in fashion?

I want to up my level for how I dress, I just want to know where to start, my taste has came a long way. From middle school where it was just a black hoodie with jeans and old skool vans. At 23, I found a new appreciation with how important appearance is. I just want to ask where does everyone find their inspiration from and how you discovered your taste?
