Not to brag but I am a very good public speaker and may have the chance to give a speech at a wedding later this year.
More than a decade ago I was at a wedding and one of the groomsmen gave a speech that started something on these lines that I might want to steal:
A lot of you donât know that Jim had a really hard time finding someone to give a speech at his wedding. At first he asked his friend who was the best public speaker, he said no. Jim then thought âWell, if my friend whoâs the best public speaker canât do it I might as well ask my funniest friend.â His funniest friend also said no. Discouraged he thought âOk, if the best public speaker I know and also my funniest friend canât speak at my wedding I might as well pick my best looking friend for the audience to look at while he speaksâ After the third time Jim called me, I finally said yes.
Is this an overused wedding speech or not? I donât want to do this opener if a lot of people have heard it before.
