Any reformed ‘nice guys’(performative) have stories about what made u realize u weren’t actually a nice guy?

If so, did that inspire any sort of change? And if it did what was the cycle of acknowledgement, denial, acceptance, thought rehab to actual changed behavior? Did it change your life? Did it relieve an emotional burden? Writing a thought piece on this and was wondering if there’s ever a look in the mirror moment where u say, ‘yeah look, we aren’t who we think we are….and maybe we can sort ourselves out’ moment?
