why do I feel unconfident?

I am 20(M) who recently lost a lot weight and look better now after a breakup with getting tattoos and dressing better. I felt as if when I was heavier and had worse acne skin that I felt more confident and didn't care how I looked. My ex recently told me she can see the weight loss and that I looked better now with how I changed. So why is it that I look better now appearance wise but feel uglier?
