Men who follow team sports and talk about their team as "we," what is your own experience participating in team sports?
Post Body

This is not a right or wrong question. I'm interested in your experiences.

I absolutely understand the position that pro teams are nothing without fans, and fans make up the community around the team. This is not devaluing fans. It's a discussion about perspectives.

I've played organized team sports for nearly 40 years, and I follow several pro teams very closely. I tend NOT to say "We won," "we lost," etc. Upon reflection, I think my sports experience makes me feel that since I'm not playing for the team, it's not my place to say "we." It feels a little wrong. (Again, FOR ME.)

If you do say "We," what is your team sports background and connection?
