My dad is a pretty stoic man who shows little emotion. He does so much for us (my mom, sister and I. And now also his 3 nieces) and is always thinking of ways to improve our lives, big and small.
He also will drop anything he’s doing at any moment just to help us. I don’t know how he got to be this way but I feel like I definitely don’t appreciate him enough. Part of it is because he doesn’t receive compliments well (it’s like a brick wall) he’s also not easy to connect with, pretty closed off. But I know him doing these things are his gestures of love and so I just want to make sure he feels equal amounts of love and appreciation in return, but I’m not sure how.
Does anyone have any suggestions? What would make you feel appreciated as a father (especially if you have a similar personality)?
