How do you focus more on the positive?

Going through some job stuff and was thinking about my work history. I remember the names of every dickhead boss I’ve had. And I realized, I don’t remember the names of the nice ones. I don’t know if this is a defense mechanism, or what, but I want to remember the good stuff, not the icky. Those of you who keep it positive, how do you do it?
