Why are there still 30+ year old men that don't know how to change a tire?

People are not self reliant these days. I blame parents mostly. One of my best friend’s dad was handy but never showed him much. He asks me to do stuff to his car but I tell him only if he does it with me so he’ll learn. I do the same with my gf. Not that I won’t do it for her. I just want her to be able to not rely on anyone for the basics. I want that for everyone in my life
