Clock spring bypass?

Replaced my rack and pinion last week and put in an aftermarket one. I guess tbis one has slightly more turning and as a result my clockspring snapped. Is it possible to bypass the clockspring so that I can regain my cruise control? I'm not worried about any of the other buttons or horn, just want my cruise back.
