Post Body

I dropped my car off on Monday morning for work. The work was completed that day and I was told to come pick it up. I arranged a ride to pick up the car and once I got there was informed that his credit card machine is down and he can't take payment. It has now been 48 hours my car has been ready, I have had to rent a car as well as pay for a babysitter because I was not able to pick my child up from school due to a lack of a vehicle. I have offered to leave the card with him as well as my ID so he can run it when his system is back online. I need my car back, what are my options? The work is ~$1800 and between car rentals and babysitters because his machine is down I've had to spend another ~$400. I do not have anyone to borrow the cash from which is the only option he is giving me to get the car back. I've had over $5000 worth of work done to the car with this mechanic in the last 3 months. This will be my last time using him, but what are my options to get my car back now, if any? Thanks in advance

Edit- the car is a 2014 750i and the car was in for a misfire on 2 cylinders and replacement of a MAP sensor.

Edit 2- thank you for those who had helpful comments and not snarky shit about not having an extra $2k cash laying around. I wound up taking the keys from him and taking my car back. 45 minutes later he called to let me know that he could process my payment.
