2004 Honda Accord V6

So I have bought a 04 accord around March of this year. When I stop at a light it will jerk the whole car going back down into what I assume is 1st gear. When I slow down for a yield sign I’d say around 15-20 mph it won’t go into any gear and it just revs until I stop or manually drop in on to 1st or 2nd.
Little background I’m a midwestern who grew up on a used car lot so I’m mechanically inclined and know quite a bit but I’ve never been good with transmissions.
