2012 Chevy Impala overheats at idle

As the title says my wife’s 2012 Chevy impala has recently started having issues with overheating when she’s stuck in any kind of traffic. Car had no issues with heating or cooling until about a month ago. We do live in St. Louis where it’s definitely hot outside this time of year however this car has never had a problem before. Coolant levels are where they should be and the fans seem to kick on when car is running. Any ideas where to start would be greatly appreciated!
