How can I confirm that it's just my torque converter failing?
Post Body

I got a 2014 Ford Escape SE 1.6 L with the 6F35 transmission that's having its usual transmission problems that all of these cars have. There's a whine Which sounds like it's from the torque converter, the car doesn't want to accelerate well and needs maybe almost 3000rpm to start moving. It also sometimes stops making the whine, the noise goes in and out and whenever the noise stops, the car is basically in neutral and doesn't move at all. Before I go taking out the transmission and replacing the torque converter, how can I confirm 100% that it's the torque converter, and not something like a transmission pump? I hate to replace the torque converter and put it back in only to find out I have to take it back out and buy a new transmission.
