Does this sound like clutch brake going bad?

My mechanic says my clutch brake is going bad wear tear etc. Pete 579 13 speed 2016 300k.

Symptoms im experiencing going into reverse or take off gears (first or second) is much rougher then it used to be I gotta pump the clutch and really get into gear. Before it was easy smooty. I can almost feel the teeth when I press down clutch all the way.

I have hard time trusting the shoppe because they did bad work in past and have many young techs. I use them because they get my truck in and out often same day or next day. I'm tempted to get second opinion. Will driving like that do more damage?
